Alexandre Kyungu Mwilambwe (born in 1992 in Kinshasa, DRC, Congo)He lives and works in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo. He studied art at the Kinshasa Academy of Fine Arts. He is the co-founder of the Vision Total group (vi.to). His artistic practice combines painting, drawing, sculpture and installation to explore and address notions of migration and identity, borders and space, signs and symbols. Her working process uses wood doors and rubber as support and subject matter to link the themes of urban cartography and body scarification (Nzoloko), for exploring the imaginary between urban cartography and body scarification.
Alexandre Kyungu has taken part in several group exhibitions and artist residencies in his country and abroad to cite a few;
this year 2024, he recently presented his first personal exhibition in America in San Francisco with Hosfelt Gallery and in the same period, his work was included in a group show at the "FOG Design + Art" art fair with Hosfelt Gallery in San Francisco. In October 2023, he was one of the winners of the El Anatsui fellowship at the brandywineworkshop in Philadelphia, and in the same year, his work was presented at the AKAA fair in Paris with Galerie Akka project, in April 2023, his work was included in the group show "OFF THE GRID" organized by Hosfelt Gallery, San Fransisco.
In May 2023, at the Venice Biennale of Architecture, his work was included in the permanent collection of the Capesaro Museum. It was also exhibited at the Capesaro Museum in Venice as part of the AFRICA FRIST project in collaboration with the AKKA project. In October 2022, his work was presented at the Newark Arts Museum festival in New Jersey, and in June 2022 at the Dakar Biennale's international OFF exhibition.
