This video is a prayer, it is a mediation between the body and the soul. It begins with a whisper, or rather a silent sigh of relief and simultaneously a request for strength in order to be able to breathe. The video then proceeds into washing of hands as a ritual to cleanse emotional wounds that trouble the soul. The work is developed as part of an ongoing process to remember and commomerate stories of women. Water, in the context of this video, connects the body to the soul. Water soothes the body, water holds within itself many things. It is both the container or carrier constituting pieces of evidence about the past. Water is where dissolving and condensing occurs. This work is about recupperation. It is about engaging with histories that have gone through the trauma of being erased or the trauma of existing in the margins of invisibility. It engages with stories that have gone through prolonged protest in trying to become visible. It thinks about rest, about recovery, it is about taking a moment to breathe.
